What is NeckCare? | Patient Facing Information

The NeckCare System is an FDA-listed medical device used by clinicians to assess neck function through guided movement tests and symptom evaluation. It uses a head-mounted sensor to collect data on movement, accuracy, and control, helping identify potential impairments and inform treatment, including targeted exercises.

The NeckCare System is an FDA-listed medical device developed to assist clinicians in assessing the neck for potential impairments, which can often be challenging.

It is a state-of-the-art device that uses a sensor comfortably mounted on your head to collect measurements while a clinician guides you through different movements. Each of these movements evaluates specific components of your neck function. The measurement data helps the clinician identify any abnormal or undesirable movements that might be contributing to your symptoms.

The NeckCare System includes:

    • Symptom assessment - A questionnaire designed to track your medical history and current symptoms
    • The Range of Motion Test - Measures how far you can move your head in different directions
    • The Joint Position Error Test - Measures how accurately you can position your head
    • The Butterfly Test - Measures how accurately you can control head movement
    • Remote Exercises - NeckCare Home is intended for use in patients presenting with neck-related dysfunction and could potentially benefit from sensorimotor control exercises.

The NeckCare System assesses your neck mobility by measuring how much you can move in all directions. The flagship of the NeckCare System is its ability to assess the sensory function of your neck and its impact on your ability to position and move your head.

Your results are presented graphically in a clear, easy-to-understand report. Your data is also compared with results from healthy individuals, allowing you to easily see how your neck function differs from typical healthy neck function.
