To perform an assessment using the NeckCare platform, your NeckCare sensor must be connected to the platform. Follow the steps below based on your operating system—Mac or Windows.
Step 1: Ensure Your Setup Meets the System Requirements
Before starting, ensure your system meets the following minimum requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 10 (or higher), Mac OS X Yosemite (or higher)
- Browser: Latest version of Google Chrome (version 70+ on Windows, 56+ on Mac) or latest version of Microsoft Edge (version 79+ for Windows)
- Internet connection: Required to use the NeckCare platform
Important Note: Disconnect any other Bluetooth devices from your computer to prevent interference during the assessment. Using the NeckCare sensor near other wireless devices may cause signal interruptions.
- Laptop or a PC with Bluetooth Version 5.0
To connect the NeckCare sensor, your device needs to support Bluetooth 5.0, which came out in 2016. If your laptop or PC is older than a 2016 model or doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth, you may need a separate Bluetooth adapter to connect the sensor.
Tip: If your device doesn’t support Bluetooth 5.0, you can purchase a compatible Bluetooth adapter. Here’s an example.
- Screen Size: Minimum 7.7" (recommended 24", 1920x1080 resolution, 100% zoom)
- Internet connection: Required to use the NeckCare platform
Step 2: Connect the Sensor
While you’re on your NeckCare dashboard, you can check the upper right-hand corner for the sensor status. If you’re just starting, it will show Sensor Disconnected.
Click on Sensor Disconnected to proceed.
Step 3: How to Connect the NeckCare™ Sensor
A pop-up will appear with the following instructions:
-
Turn On the Sensor
- Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 2 seconds.
- The indicator light will turn green and then flash yellow, signaling that the sensor is ready for Bluetooth pairing.
-
Connect the Sensor
- Click the Connect button in the pop-up.
- A dialog box will appear, prompting you to select your sensor.
Connecting on a Mac
For Mac users, the process is straightforward:
- Click Connect in the pop-up.
- A Chrome dialog will appear asking you to choose the sensor from the list.
- Select the sensor and click Pair.
Once connected, make sure your sensor is fully charged using the provided USB charging cable, and hit Calibrate for a basic daily calibration.
Connecting on Windows
The process on Windows, especially Windows 11, involves an additional step:
-
First, open your system’s Bluetooth settings:
- Click the Search icon on your taskbar and type “Bluetooth”.
- Open Bluetooth & other device settings.
-
In the Bluetooth settings dialog:
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
- Click Add device and select Bluetooth.
- With the sensor powered on, it will appear as Movella DOT in the pairing list. Select it.
-
After pairing the device in Windows:
- Return to the NeckCare platform and click Connect.
- Select the sensor from the list and click Pair in the Chrome pop-up.
For Windows 11 users, this pairing step must be completed before attempting to connect via the NeckCare platform.
Step 4: Calibration
Once your sensor is connected, ensure it is charged and click Calibrate for basic daily calibration. This step keeps your sensor accurate for assessments.
Advanced Calibration: For advanced calibration (e.g., after traveling or leaving the device unused for a long period), refer to the advanced calibration guide.
⚠️ Important
Transport Mode: The sensor is shipped in "Transport Mode" and must be plugged into a charging cable to activate prior to its first use.
